Frequently Asked Questions

What is Lebanese Food?

Lebanese cuisine is so full of flavour but is not spicy. We use and mix a variety of foods and are particularly fond of whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Poultry is eaten more often than red meat, and when red meat is eaten, it is usually lamb. We love chickpeas, aubergines, garlic and olive oil, and dishes are often seasoned with lemon juice and the desserts feature pomegranate.

Is Lebanese food spicy?

Absolutely not. this is such a misconception and I get asked this all the time. Lebanese food is aromatic and full of flavour as we use a variety of herbs and spices but it is definitely not spicy as you will find with cuisines from further East into Asia.

What is the difference between Lebanese food and other countries in the Middle East?

To be honest there is very little difference between the cuisines of the whole of the Middle East plus the likes of Turkey and Greece. The differences are often quite subtle and are in the way we combine our ingredients or use 1 or 2 specific herbs and spices. If you like Turkish or greek food you should also love Lebanese !
